Rules

By registering the competition, you accept the following terms and conditions!


Entry:
Each competitor goes through the competition course at his / her own risk. The organizer has no responsibility for any accident during the race. Find out you have a valid insurance of your own for swimrun.

Children under 18 years may compete only with a permission by their guardian!

Kuopio Swimrun is arranged at World Orienteering Championships 2025 embargoed area.  According to the IOF Competition rules (§ 26.5), embargoed areas are forbidden for all potential WOC 2025 athletes, team officials and other persons, who, through knowledge of the terrain, may influence the results of the competitions.

The participation fee must be paid via RaceID at the registration. The participation is non-refundable, but it can be transferred to another competitor via your RaceID account. 

Force majeure:
If the competition is cancelled or the race course is changed during the competition day due to weather conditions, the entry fees will not be refunded.

Mandatory equipment:
Swimming cap 1pc / person
Whistle  1pc / person
First Aid Bandage 1pc / person or team
Foldable cup 1pc / person, supplied by organizer, to be returned
Wetsuit or Pull-Buoy 1pc / person
GPS-device for the selected competitors, supplied by organizer, to be returned


Recommended equipment:
Pull Buoy
Swimming goggles
Hand paddles
Spike shoes

Forbidden Equipment (on Long and Ultimate course):
Floating equipment with a total size of over 32cm x 30cm x 15cm
Flippers longer than 15cm

During the race:
Competitors must proceed the whole course along the marked route

Maximum distance between team members is 50m on the ground and 10m on the water

Refreshment stations (liquid+energy) are available every 4-7 kilometers. Competitors can also carry their own snack. Receiving external assistance is only allowed in emergency.

Competitors / Teams carry all their equipment from the start to the finish. Gel rubbish etc. can be junked at refreshment stations, otherwise ABSOLUTELY NO LITTERING!

If needed, each participant is obliged to assist an injured competitor or organizer in an emergency situation.

The organizer has guiding / rescue personnel on longer swim sections and as a tail-end supervisor, but make always sure to protect your way especially on difficult trails and some short roadways.

On the long course, there is a Cut Off point (11km / 3h). Missed teams will be directed to the short cut (short course). From the Ultimate Cut Offs, read more here

Abandoned competitors must report themselves straight to the nearest refreshment station or finish.

Others:

The protests must be left to the competition information after the informal results and before the prize-giving. The results will be published on the website www.kuopioswimrun.fi

The first 30 competitors on each course will gather My Swimrun Championships Qualifier points for the World Championships 2025 ranking. Read more here

The organizer reserves the right to publish the images and videos taken during the event for marketing / reporting the competition.

If the previous rules or the later instructions (Newsletter in June / July, Race info on site) given by organizer aren´t observed, team / single competitor can be disqualified.
